Dr. Mayer specializes in the area of pharmacology, toxicology, and forensic sciences in his capacity as a forensic science practitioner and university professor.
Prior to launching FOREXPERTS, Dr. Mayer worked in the public and private sectors. In the public sector he held the following positions at the Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences.

In the private sector Dr. Mayer has held several academic appointments and has been teaching and supervising research following the completion of his doctoral degree.

Professional Background
- Qualified in all levels of criminal court in the Province of Ontario, federal court, professional and disciplinary tribunals, and labour relation hearings to give expert evidence with respect to the behavioural effects and potential toxicities of alcohol, drugs, and toxins; their fate in the body and analytical techniques for their detection and measurement.
- He has testified on behalf of the Crown and the defence bar.
- He has lectured to a broad range of academic, legal, law enforcement, and professional groups.
- Designated alcohol analyst pursuant to s. 254(1) for the purposes of s. 258 C.C.C.
- Knowledge and experience in the principles and methods of operation of instruments used in the breath testing for alcohol.
- Knowledge and experience in the analytical techniques used in the isolation and detection of alcohol and other drugs; and in the principles and methods of operation of various analytical instrumentation deployed for their detection.
- Research and teaching in pharmacology, toxicology, and analytical techniques of alcohol and other therapeutic drugs and illicit substances.
- Certified as ISO9000 Lead Assessor, and Accreditation Inspector and team leader for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors.
